4 Possible Trade Suitors For Green Bay Packers Star Jaire Alexander
Mark Hoffman / Milwaukee Journal Sentinel / USA TODAY NETWORK

In a recent twist of events, star cornerback Jaire Alexander has dropped hints that his tenure with the Green Bay Packers might be drawing to a close. If indeed traded, it is certain that numerous NFL teams will be vying for his skills in the upcoming offseason.

While the 2023-24 NFL season is still underway, several organizations are already setting their sights on major changes for the next season. Currently, much of the league’s focus is on the head coach market, particularly for teams that are no longer in contention this season. However, the trade season and free agency are not far off.

In a recent Instagram post, the trade landscape received a significant development when Jaire Alexander of the Green Bay Packers took to his Instagram account to post, “Thank you God. Thank you Lambeau, for 6 years. Thank you to those who showed love throughout my journey.”

This post strongly suggests that the two-time Pro Bowler either anticipates being a cap casualty in the offseason or has communicated his desire to explore other opportunities with the team.

Should the Packers manage to orchestrate a blockbuster deal involving one of the NFC’s premier cornerbacks, there are four potential suitors in the mix for the offseason.

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots are expected to bolster their secondary during the offseason. While their current unit is solid, injuries took a toll on them in the 2023-24 season, necessitating the addition of impact players on the defensive side of the ball.

With substantial cap space at their disposal, the Patriots can absorb Alexander’s contract without sacrificing key players from the previous season, potentially fortifying their roster.

Cincinnati Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals’ defense encountered challenges at various points last year, hampering their playoff aspirations. However, they do possess promising young talents in Trey Hendrickson, Cam Taylor-Britt, and Jordan Battle.

Adding a proven Pro Bowl cornerback like Jaire Alexander to their roster in the upcoming season could be a significant coup and lead to substantial defensive improvement in 2024.

Las Vegas Raiders

Despite a formidable pass rush upfront, the Las Vegas Raiders struggled with their secondary throughout the season. With defensive-minded head coach Antonio Pierce set to lead next season, there’s a strong possibility he might encourage the new general manager, Tom Telesco, to make a bold move by addressing their defensive issues with the acquisition of one of the league’s top cornerbacks.

Philadelphia Eagles

After boasting one of the league’s premier defenses in 2022, the Philadelphia Eagles experienced a significant decline this past season. They ranked second in most passing yards allowed in the NFL and were among the bottom ten in interceptions.

To reclaim their previous elite status, acquiring Jaire Alexander could be a game-changer for their defense. The choice of their next defensive coordinator could play a pivotal role in their pursuit of a trade for the Packers star.
