KaVontae Turpin, wow! This 5’7 speedster showed out as a special teams weapon in preseason game two for the Dallas Cowboys. Special teams can make all the difference needed between wins and losses, especially in close games. Turpin put his athletic abilities on full display. He was practically untouchable and certainly not going to be chased down.

Ladies and Gentlemen, KaVontae Turpin.

KaVontae Turpin got two touches as a returner, one kickoff and one punt return. He scored on both returns displaying great agility and speed. Turpin had a few chances in his opening game with the Cowboys as a return man. He wasn’t able to break anything big in that game but he sure took advantage his second game. He took off for a 98 yard kickoff return for the first touchdown of the game. The speed he has showed right away.  He found the gap and turned it on, there was no catching him.
Then Turpin got his chance at a punt return after a defensive stop inside the two minute warning. He caught the punt back peddling and made the first would-be tackler look like he was on ice skates. After making a few moves he found a seam and was gone. Once Turpin got into open field it was over. Both touchdowns were great examples of the quick strike making a huge impact on the outcome of the game.

Special Player/Special Teams

KaVontae Turpin showed out as a true special teams weapon. He’s the kind of player coaches game plan around to avoid big plays like the two he had this game. Even for a preseason game this is an exciting talent for Cowboys fans. The ability to turn the momentum of a game on a special teams play is huge. Turpin certainly solidified his spot on the team and his role for the Dallas Cowboys. He is a special player who has potential to be great and a real difference maker.
