Penguins Postgame: Living on the Edge, Pens’ Heroes & Problems
Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

When you live on the edge, sometimes you can’t help yourself but fall. The Pittsburgh Penguins trailed in the third period for the second consecutive night, but staring at a fourth-straight loss heading into a 10-day break with their future hanging by a thread, the Penguins snapped to.

Sidney Crosby set up Jake Guentzel for the tying goal with a marvelous backhand pass. Marcus Pettersson flashed some offensive chops by finishing a two-on-one in overtime with a top-shelf laser.

The Penguins beat the Montreal Canadiens 3-2 in overtime at PPG Paints Arena.

Lars Eller called the game their biggest of the season, and it was a “must-win.” Pettersson referenced the big-picture danger of going into the break losing four straight, albeit with two overtime points.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now’s Dan Kingerski broke down the performances that were noteworthy and the ones that stood out as problems. Kingerski also laid out the significance of the result and the situation the Penguins faced and will face after the break.
